U.S. Tariff Update (Effective August 29, 2025)

🔔 U.S. Shipping Update: What to Expect from 29 August 2025

From 29 August 2025 (U.S. time) the U.S. will charge import duty on all parcels, no matter the value. Here’s exactly how that affects Brightberry customers in the U.S.

For postal shipments, the order requires USPS (or its designated partner) to collect and remit duties. Carriers may choose one of two methods—ad-valorem or a specific flat duty ($80/$160/$200) based on the origin country’s tariff band. You’ll receive an email/SMS with the exact amount and a secure way to pay.

The short version

  • Duty will be payable: Your carrier (USPS) will ask you to pay import duties/fees before delivery.
  • You’ll be notified directly: Watch for an email/SMS from the carrier (check spam/junk).
  • Tracking stays the same: Use the same tracking number on USPS.com (for postal) or the courier’s website for the most accurate updates.
  • We’re improving this: We’re working on additional U.S. shipping options to make checkout and delivery even smoother. We’ll update this page as soon as they’re live.

How your Brightberry order will work (step by step)

  1. Place your order as usual. You’ll receive an order confirmation and a shipping email with your tracking number.
  2. Carrier contacts you if duty is required. They’ll send a secure link or instructions to pay.
  3. Pay promptly to avoid delays. Once paid, your parcel continues to delivery.
  4. Track your parcel (Australia Post → USPS): track on USPS.com once your parcel lands in the U.S.

Important: If duties/fees aren’t paid when requested, the carrier may return or dispose of the parcel. We can’t refund orders that are unclaimed, refused, or discarded due to non-payment.

How much duty could it be?

Duty is set by U.S. Customs and depends on where the product was made and its product category.

  • Brightberry Suction Stickers: We are still gathering information, but the estimate is 10%.
  • All other Brightberry products: We are still gathering information, but the estimate is 14%*.

*The exact amount is confirmed by the carrier when your parcel is processed.

Example duty estimates

Items Product value Shipping Expected duty*
1 Suction Sticker $19 $11 $1.90 (10%)
1 Suction Sticker + other items $89 ($19 + $70) $11 $11.70 ($1.90 + $9.80)

Duty is calculated on the value of goods only (shipping isn’t dutiable). The carrier confirms the exact amount at processing.

Helpful tips to avoid delays

  • Use an email and mobile number you check often (peek at spam/junk).
  • If you’re in an apartment, include the unit/suite number.
  • Paying the carrier’s duty request quickly, keeps things moving.

FAQs

Will my low-value order be duty-free?
No. The $800 duty-free threshold is suspended. All imports may attract duty.

Who collects the duty?
The carrier (USPS or your courier) will instruct you on payment—sometimes before the parcel enters the U.S. (postal).

What if I don’t pay the duty?
Your parcel may be returned or disposed of by the carrier/customs. We can’t refund orders that are unclaimed, refused, or discarded due to non-payment.
